Vintage Maps Offer Unique Perspective on Chicago History

Maps are more convenient than ever for finding the shortest route to your dinner reservation or discovering which side streets can help you get to the freeway more quickly.

But maps can tell unique stories about local history, too. This weekend, the Newberry Library plays host to the Chicago Antiquarian Map, Book & Ephemera Fair. The event features local, national and international exhibitors, including map dealer Curtis Bird, owner of The Old Map Gallery in Denver, Colorado.
