‘Wright Brothers, Wrong Story’ the Untold Account of Historic Flight


History remembers the Wright Brothers as the duo that made flight possible in 1903.

In December of that year, the two – seemingly as co-equals – launched a glider that flew for 12 seconds with Orville Wright at the helm. As a result, received history is that they contributed equally to the beginning of manned flight.

But that was not the case, local author William Hazelgrove argues in the new book, “Wright Brothers, Wrong Story: How Wilbur Wright Solved the Problem of Manned Flight.” In it, Hazelgrove uncovers details about the Wright Brothers that suggest Wilbur Wright, the older of the two brothers, was the key to it all.

Hazelgrove joins us to discuss what he calls “the Wright Brothers myth.”
