A Look at President Trump’s Rally Strategy Ahead of Illinois Visit

With just two weeks until Election Day, President Donald Trump is on a tour, trying to fire up his base to prevent a possible “blue wave” on Nov. 6.

“The strategy really is to put President Trump in districts where Republicans are in trouble,” said Yamiche Alcindor, a White House correspondent with “PBS NewsHour.”

“A lot of times, it’s in districts where Republicans did well in 2016, but after two years of a Trump presidency, Republicans find themselves in a bind,” she said.

Both Trump and Bost won the election by more than 14 percentage points in 2016. But with Bost leading by 9 percentage points against Democrat Brendan Kelly, the margin looks slimmer this time around.

Alcindor joins us to discuss the upcoming tour stop at the Southern Illinois Airport, the migrant caravan and the latest in the investigation into the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
