Web Extra: Cubs First Night Game

On Aug. 8, 1988, 25 years ago tonight, history was made at Wrigley Field with the first scheduled night game in the history of the storied ballpark. There was national news coverage, ceremonies, and a whole lot of excitement. And in typical Cubs fashion, the game actually got rained out. In our web extra video, we take you back to that historic night and bring you Chicago Tonight’s coverage of this seminal event in Chicago sports history. We hear from none other than Harry Caray, comedian Tom Dreesen, and assorted politicians, community leaders and activists about this drastic change to what was the last ballpark in the major leagues to play games at night. Watch the web extra video.
