Father Barron and Leonard spent two years traversing the globe to film the series. The documentary illustrates the history and presence of Catholicism the world over. In the series, Father Barron visits over 50 locations in 15 countries, using art, literature, music and architecture to explore the religion held by over one billion people.

Father Robert Barron is the Francis Cardinal George Professor of Faith and Culture at Mundelein Seminary and a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He spends most of his time speaking on spirituality, in person, and online through podcasts and YouTube. His media ministry, Word on Fire, has a core mission of evangelism.

“The word ‘apostle’ comes from the Greek work ‘apostello’ – it means to send,” Father Barron says in the documentary. “The Christian faith is never meant to be held onto as a private privilege, it’s meant to be shared, to be spread like seed around the world. And so the apostolic church to this day still has that missionary purpose.”

The episode airing after the show tonight is “Amazed and Afraid: The Revelation of God Become Man.” The first in the series, this episode delves into the core convictions that define Catholicism the world over - that Jesus is the Messiah, and how he fulfills the “tasks” outlined in the Old and the New Testaments.
